National Health Center Week in the United States is fast approaching! From August 11-17, 2013, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) invites Americans across the country to join in recognizing the work America’s Community Health Centers do each day to work toward the goal of ensuring everyone has access to a health care home.

The theme for National Health Center Week 2013 (NHCW) is “Celebrating America’s Health Centers: Transforming Health Care in Our Local Communities.” The theme showcases the multitude of ways in which America’s Community Health Centers are actively changing, improving and innovating the health of their communities. As health care providers Community Health Centers deliver high quality, cost-effective, accessible care, keeping communities healthy and productive. As local community-owned and -operated organizations, US Community Health Centers employ hundreds of thousands of individuals at more than 8,200 delivery sites across the country and serve as critical economic engines helping to power local economies.

In addition to their long history as health care homes to millions, US Community Health Centers are also proud to maintain a more than 45 year record being ranked among the highest quality and cost-effective care providers in the country. Community Health Centers provide their services to all people, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status. Today, America’s Community Health Centers serve over 23 million people (including 862,776 Farmworkers and more than 1 million people who are Homeless) at more than 8,200 delivery sites in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories.
